It's dangerous to go Solo! Take a Wookieepedia with you. (Note: My version of Obi-Wan is based on a combination of the three prequels and their novelizations. The rest of the information in the Wookieepedia article -much of it having to do with the Star Wars Expanded Universe and various other Star Wars media related to the movies- will not be used.)
Personality:
Obi-Wan Kenobi is many things: a Master Jedi, skilled Soresu swordsman, celebrated hero of the Galactic Republic, and a General of the Clone Army. He does not, however, act like you would expect a decorated war hero would. In true Jedi form, Obi-Wan is humble and quietly dutiful, his chief interests being the promotion of galactic peace and completion of his own Jedi duties. And he is, thankfully for the galaxy, very good at what he does. (Not that he'd agree with anyone who asserted as much, of course.)
Again, Obi-Wan is a quiet and modest man, but not at all unfriendly or retiring. Although he'd rather spend most of his time meditating, he's known for being a charming and capable negotiator, with even the protocol droid C3PO reflecting on how "lovely" his manners are. This is because, at the heart of Obi-Wan's character there lies a gentleness that seeks nothing more than to embrace the will of the Force and become one with all things part of it. Despite his polite and occasionally distant manner, he has a weakness for animals and other sentient life, and will always greet others with his trademarked diplomatic friendliness. This doesn't, however, mean that he doesn't get frustrated. As patient as he is, Obi-Wan has been shown to display streaks of unrelenting stubbornness, especially where his once-Padawan Anakin Skywalker is concerned.
Although Obi-Wan no longer has a Padawan, he still takes his role as mentor very seriously. Part of him still sees Anakin as his responsibility (which is the main reason why he takes the young Jedi's fall so seriously when it happens–– he sees it as a major failing on his own part) and will still slip up and lecture him every now and then. Strangers -children and teenagers, especially- are also susceptible to his lectures, as he can't seem to keep himself from offering advice and information about the Force where he feels it would be beneficial to. He derives great satisfaction from teaching, primarily seeing it as a way to give back to others as well help guide people along the path to peace and self betterment.
Despite his somewhat rocky start in the Jedi Order, Obi-Wan is truly well-suited to be a Jedi. Unlike some of the more maverick Jedi in the Order, he's considered one of the more orthodox of his fellow Jedi and is a stickler for the rules. In the middle of a blazing battlefield, Obi-Wan will be the first to insist upon forming rank and retreating to develop a strategy. Not only is he highly traditional, but he would follow any order the Jedi Council gave him without question. At this point in his life he's completely devoted to working toward the greater good, and believes wholeheartedly in the will of the Force. If ordered to, he would unquestioningly sacrifice his life for the sake of peace and galactic harmony.
Although Jedi are supposed to be without emotion and attachment, Obi-Wan does have affection for those select few people who have won his hard-earned friendship. For example, on more than one occasion his feelings for Anakin and Padmé Skywalker have led him to keep quiet about their relationship despite the Jedi Order's ban on attachments and relationships. He has also covered up and made excuses for Anakin's misdeeds in the past where the young Jedi may have been better served by being reported to the Jedi Council. Obi-Wan regrets this later after Anakin's fall, blaming himself for allowing his attachments to supersede his better judgment.
Obi-Wan's focus is constantly fixed on the broadest, and most abstract aspects of the universe. It isn't unusual for him to philosophize while waiting for an elevator, or to meditate extensively on the nature of life and existence itself. His mind is very naturally tuned outward, although not at the expense of being able to concentrate on the present. Over the years he's gained skill in keeping himself in tune with the living force, and has become less of the intense and worrying Padawan that he once was. That doesn't mean, however, that he doesn't still worry sometimes. He will occasionally lapse into feelings of anxiety or dread, especially when people he cares about are in danger. (These feelings usually are, however, quickly let go of.)
Unlike Jedi whose good will might be a little harder to earn, Obi-Wan will almost always, always give people the benefit of the doubt. Even villains with the tiniest shred of good in them are subject to his mercy, simply because he values all life in the universe equally. Where Jedi like Mace Windu and Yoda are detached to the point of fault, Obi-Wan's greatest weakness (and, perhaps, strength) is the deep well of compassion he has for all beings part of the Force.
Abilities:
Obi-Wan is a skilled Jedi, and boasts several Force-based powers:
• Can form Force barriers around his mind (Force barriers protect the mind from invasion by psychics and other Force users.)
• Jedi mind tricks (minor and short-lived forms of mind control that work only on the weak-willed) and other Force Persuasion skills
• Force push (Essentially a telekinetic "shove")
• Can use the Force to increase his body's endurance and agility
• Animal friendship skills (Can "suggest" commands through the Force as a means of bonding, and communicating with all kinds of animal life)
• Force deflection and repulse (The ability to repel things by creating a "wall" of Force energy)
• Force crush (The ability to physically crush objects through the power of the Force)
• Force absorption (The ability to absorb the Force-based skills -such as Sith Lightning– of other Force-users.)
• The ability to detect the Force presences of other nearby life forms, be they Force users or not.
